Why Cineworld is a good investment during the recession - Cineworld operates in an industry which traditionally does well in a recession. Even in the Great Depression Joe Kennedy made part of his fortune through his investments in cinema chains. Cineworld is protected by high barriers to entry and is one of the market leaders among the cinema operators in the UK and Ireland. Curtain opens on digital age for independent cinemas - THE 700-strong group is about to make its biggest format change in a century. THE Independent Cinema Association of Australia has completed a deal to bring full digital systems to its 700 member cinemas, in a move its president Mark Sarfaty calls "the most important change in cinema exhibition in 100 years".
